I am not too ashamed to add that my views are informed by my experiences of an unplanned pregnancy and years before that, I was raped. Other personal challenges that inform this opinion include a childhood of poverty and abuse. I am not religious so religious teachings have no bearing on my opinion. | |||

| Specific bills that I will be asked to vote on are rarely as cut and dry as the options presented here. For example; "Should we "greatly increase" or "greatly decrease" welfare?" Where there is true need, increase. Where there is abuse, eliminate it. The answers I can choose from on these questions are woefully unimaginative and oversimplified. No other option than to maintain and fund the status quo is given. If that were in the best interest of the people of this state, why would I run for office? | |||

| At one time, public employees were paid less than private employees in similar positions with comparable education and experience. The inverse is more often now the case. If you consider that it is the profits of private businesses that support this whole system, you also have to wonder how long this arrangement can be sustained without substantially raising taxes on individuals and on corpoations, encouraging them to locate elsewhere. Basically, the above question is about what interest group or groups I will cater to more (but changing obligations after agreements are reached is not fair and should be avoided). | |||

| I support free speech. Many people practice that by throwing money at candidates they like. If voters are accurately informed about where the money is coming from, this does not necessarily offend me. But that free speech comes at a high cost when voters mindlessly demand expensive campaigning styles. I haven't spent much in this campaign because I think it's preposterous to spend more to get a job than what the job pays. Thankfully, we can still keep it real here in NH. | |||

| I have had the unusual experience of having met a convicted child killer and discussing his crime with him, as well as surviving a serious kidnapping attempt by two strangers who targeted me as a child. I'm rather passionate about protecting innocent life. The death penalty for those convicted of capitol murder is a way of respecting the rights of all New Hampshire residents to live in a peaceful society. If given evidence that our criminal justice system is flawed, and that those accused of serious crime recieved unfair treatment or inadequate representation in this state,I would revisit this opinion. | |||

| On many of these questions, I would say yes, but only if they are temporary measures and if the taxpayer's interests are also protected. On providing financial incentives to the private sector for the purpose of job creation, a fascinating example of state governments doing just that would be the recent case of Remington Arms Manufacturing in Ilion, New York. They prepaired to move their factory out of that expensive state, then recieved tax incentives from Democrat governor Cuomo and the state of New York to stay. Imagine that? Democrats suppoting the gun industry..or was it union jobs? | |||

| The money should follow the child in education.Parents should have as much say as possible in where their children attend school. Schools that give parents what they want should be directly rewarded or else they should not survive. I do believe parents are capable of knowing and judging academic merit- just as you believe that you are capable to assess another person's intellectual fitness for certain jobs. You would not have read this far if not. Vouchers being used at any school? That's a disingenuous question considering what our state constitution explicitly prohbits concerning religious education and taxpayer funding. | |||

| This is a basic feminist issue. As a woman, I really appreciate our low crime rate in New Hampshire.The fact that every potential rapist or home invader needs to remember that each and every person whom they target may or may not be carrying a concealed and loaded weapon at that very moment contributes to our low crime rate. Those who disagree are naive about how criminals think and how they decide to target. I believe in our Constitution and think often about why our founding fathers included the 2nd amendment. | |||
